Rwanda joined SWA in 2010. The Government’s primary vision for WASH sector is to progressively achieve safely managed water supply and sanitation services for the socioeconomic development of all Rwandans. It has an ambitious target of reaching universal access to basic and safely managed water supply and sanitation services to all Rwandans by 2024 and 2030 respectively. The country believes that these targets will be achieved through the provision of improved, extended and sustained water supply and sanitation services; enhanced standardization; more innovative technological options and enhanced enabling environment for the WASH sector.
Commitments by partners
Contribute technically and participate in the FY2019-20 multi-stakeholder national dialogues (BLJSR, FLJSR, annual sector review);
Technically and financially support the review of the rural water tariff, including a nationally representative rural water affordability study and advise a tariff structure and tariff-setting methodology for the Rwanda Utility Regulatory Authority (RURA) in FY2019-20.
Technically and financially support the City of Kigali and other stakeholders to map stakeholders, services and the enabling environment and to develop a roadmap to address Fecal Sludge Management in Kigali in FY 2019/20.
Support MININFRA, MOH and MINECOFIN to implement Track Fin in 2020.
Technically and financially support the development and implementation of the Ministry of Health-led National Handwashing Sub-Strategy in FY2019-20.
