Mauritania joined SWA in 2016. The WASH sector is guided by the National Strategy for Sustainable Access to Water and Sanitation by 2030, in line with the National Strategy for Accelerated Growth and Shared Prosperity 2016-2030. Sector discussions are structured in the REPAM, the national network for drinking water and sanitation.
Commitments by the government
Implement programme to build 230 drinking water supply networks in rural areas of Mauritania by end 2021.
Programme to achieve family sanitation in 2000 new localities by end 2021.
Revision of the National Strategy for Water and Sanitation Sector Development to 2030 by March 2020.
