Haiti


Priority country : Multi-stakeholder approaches, Systems & Finance

Haiti joined SWA in 2018. The country has an approved National Plan in 3 of the 7 WASH sub-sectors and active participation in the national coordination for drinking water, sanitation and hygiene. Haiti also has a formal government-led coordination mechanism that includes, coordination of activities in the different WASH sub-sectors which includes all relevant ministries/agencies, donors contributing to sector activities at the national level, and non-governmental stakeholders. Haiti aims to improve access to safe drinking water to prevent waterborne diseases as one of its actions in its Public Health priority sector.

Ensure that operations are effectively managed.
Reviewing progress
Establish safe drinking water and sanitation services in municipalities through a protocol signed by the regulator and the administrative bodies of the municipalities.

Facilitate an annual increase of 3% in access to a public drinking water service.

Publish the sector's regulatory framework and implement monitoring mechanism to ensure that 100% of the regions produce regular reports.
