SWA Partnership Meeting 2012

The first SWA Partnership Meeting to review progress and set the future direction of SWA took place in South Africa from 12-14 November 2012.

The meeting brought together over 120 representatives of SWA partners and potential partners from: developing country governments, donors, development banks, civil society, multilaterals, sector partners and research and learning institutions.

Partners advised the Steering Committee about areas for further development:

SWA Framework: Maintain the current SWA Framework consisting of Three Priority Areas and Two Outcomes. Continue to focus on ‘off-track’ countries while being strategically selective in engaging additional influential partners to build SWA’s global credibility.

Political Dialogue: Continue with a strong focus on the biennial High Level Meetings with an emphasis on improving the impact of the HLMs by strengthening the on-going in-country discussions in the lead up to and follow up from the Meetings. In particular, Partners recognized the importance of sustaining the political dialogue between HLMs.

Global Monitoring Landscape: A major new area where SWA has a role to play is to support the streamlining and harmonization of the global monitoring landscape, particularly around monitoring of inputs (funding, human resources etc) and sector processes (policy setting, planning etc). This is founded on strong, government-led national monitoring and review systems.

Country Processes: A core part of the work of the National Planning for Results Initiative (NPRI) will focus on delivering results on the ground in focus countries.
